ADGP inspects accident site

: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) K.Padmakumar on Thursday inspected the accident site at Ezhamkulam where three pedestrians were run over by a police van on Tuesday night.

Talking to reporters at Ezhamkulam on Thursday, the ADGP said he would submit a detailed report on the incident to the government in three days.

He said medical examination had proved that the van driver, Mohammed Shaji, was drunk at the time of the accident.

Mr. Padmakumar said the arrest of the accused driver had already been recorded, though he was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram with serious injuries. The driver had suffered serious injuries in the mob attack after the accident.

The ADGP said the report would also detail the guidelines and precautions to be strictly followed by police drivers on duty.

He said a case had been registered against 100 identifiable persons for attacking the police and police vehicles.

Cremation

Sivasankara Pilai, 72, and his wife, Ratnamma, 65, of Karinjattil house at Ezhamkulam,who were killed in the accident were cremated on Thursday. The third victim, Unnikrishnan Achary, was cremated on his house premises at Pallickal in Kottarakkara on Thursday.
