A BJP worker was stabbed to death and another injured during a temple festival at Mukkattukara in Thrissur district on Sunday night.

The BJP has alleged that CPI(M) activists were behind the attack. Police, quoting witnesses, said at least seven persons were involved in the attack.

During the ‘pooram’ festivities at Kokkulangara Temple, Nirmal (20) was stabbed following an altercation, police said. The youth succumbed to his injuries while being taken to a hospital, they said.

Another person, Mithun — also a BJP worker — has been hospitalised.
