Tension prevailed at the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stand in Hassan on Tuesday evening as two groups of youths clashed, leaving three injured. While two persons were stabbed with a dagger, another was assaulted.

According to the police, the injured are Sudeep, Hanumantha and Sunil, all aged between 20 years and 25 years. It is said that Sunil and Dhanush, both students of a private college in Hassan, had differences over the latter’s affair with a girl student in the college. As they came face to face in the bus stand, they picked up an argument around 5 pm.

Dhanush called up his brother Sudeep over the phone and informed him about the argument. Within a few minutes, Sudeep reached the spot with a friend Hanumantha. They assaulted Sunil, even as many students and passengers remained mute spectators.

Sunil, in his defence, took the dagger from his pocket and stabbed both Sunil and Hanumantha, leaving them injured. Sudeep suffered injuries on his chest and stomach, while Hanumantha had a minor injury in his hand.

Hassan Extension police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital for treatment. The statements of the students have been recorded.
