The yoga schools in Mysuru have started getting more applications, thanks to visas being offered to tourists taking up short-duration courses. “I’m confident this move will boost tourists’ arrivals with the combination of yoga and tourism,” said yoga guru Shashi Kumar, founder, Mystic Yoga School.
Mr. Kumar, who has been teaching yoga to foreign nationals since many years, told The Hindu that yoga gurus, including him, had recommended giving tourist visa for six months to one year under a special provision, if those keen on learning yoga.
He predicted that the number of tourists visiting India will go up by at least two million annually with such visas. “This move will take the arrivals from six million to eight million,” he said.
