Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has ruled out quitting office in the wake of Governor H.R. Bhardwaj according sanction to two advocates to prosecute him. “Why should I?” he asked at a press conference in Bangalore held after the sanction was accorded. He said he was confident of coming out clean, asserting that he had done nothing in violation of the law.
Nearly 10 Ministers, including Minister for Water Resources Basavaraj Bommai, V. Somanna (Housing), B.N. Bache Gowda (Labour), C.H. Vijayashankar (Forests), and S. Suresh Kumar (Law and Parliamentary Affairs) were present.
‘A disgrace'
The Chief Minister referred to Mr. Bhardwaj as an “agent” of the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre, who had converted the Raj Bhavan into an “office of the Opposition parties” and who had functioned as an “Opposition leader.”
“He is a disgrace to the office of the Governor, and rather than upholding the Constitution, has been playing politics from the day he took charge.”
Bandh ‘peaceful'
Mr. Yeddyurappa said the Karnataka bandh on Saturday had been “total and peaceful” and was a response of the people of the State to the actions of the Governor.
“The people of the State have expressed their anger against the unconstitutional and malafide action of the Governor in collusion with the Opposition Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular).” The Chief Minister, however, refrained from reacting to a statement of the Union Minister for Home, P. Chidambaram.
To meet President
Mr. Yeddyurappa said his growing popularity in the State and rapid progress made by the government in developmental programmes, including the maintenance of law and order, “appear to be troubling the Governor. The functioning of the Governor, including his statements, will all be listed out and submitted to President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. All the BJP MPs from Karnataka, the party's central leaders and key leaders from the State, including [State unit] president K.S. Eshwarappa, will be calling on the President on January 24 and a fervent plea will be made to recall the Governor.”
‘M.P. case'
With reference to the Governor's sanction and him citing an order of the Supreme Court in a case between the Madhya Pradesh Special Police Establishment and the State of Madhya Pradesh, the Chief Minister said the case had no relevance to the complaint made out by the two advocates here. In the Madhya Pradesh case, the Lokayukta there had fully investigated the matter.
He said: “The Governor even refused to give me a copy of his sanction. He told the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister to go to the court on Monday and obtain it. The Governor did not have the courtesy to seek the opinion of the government on the same.”

I too complained to the CM about Bhaskar Reddy but there is no response from the CM.What is the CM doing. It looks like everyone is involved in the scam. The police, the ministry and the CCB is involved. This scam is over 300 crores and the number of complaints to CCB is over 550. What is the government doing when over 550 complaints have gone and Bhaskar Reddy is enjoying with the investors money.
Yedduyurappa you must resign for failing the common man in Karnataka. You allowed cheaters like Aiswarya project/presidency group to go unpunished after they cheated several customers in Bangalore. V.Bhaskar Reddy and T.R Reddy of A.P. collected several crores from customers in Bangalore in 2007 promising sites near international airport. They directed the funds to Vizak, Mysore and doing their business. Now they are not refunding the money to customers after several years. These two cheaters issued cheques purposely to divert the customers to courts, knowing that our courts take years to settle the cases. We complained to police, CCB, and finally to your Office. The news of this scam came in TV9 also. But as a CM, seeing the scale of this scam he never bothered to take any action. For this reason alone he must resign and get out of CM post, as he are not bothered about common peoples problems. Even police under have under his leadership stopped taking action on such cheaters.
This is a conspiracy by Congress and JD(S) to remove K'taka CM and is been done at the behest of Center's i.e Sonia's backing as the Congress party is losing ground in South with the crisis in AP with Telangana issue and threat by Jagan Mohan Reddy who is getting support from Reddy brothers of Karnataka. So, Congress plan is 1)Remove BJP govt so as to install a Cong govt and retain its foothold in South 2)Cut the funding to Jagan by reducing the political power of the Reddy brothers in K'taka.
People should realise that Yediyurappa and Bhardwaj are not an asset to the development of Karnataka and seek their exit at the earliest. People in US and Europe are thinking of Karnataka development but the day-to-day affairs say otherwise. Kannadigas without being passive should wakeup from slumber and teach a lesson to bad leaders.
Whether Mr. Yeddurappa is corrupt or not (personally I'm yet to see a politician in India who is not corrupt) and whether Mr. Bhardwaj is an agent of UPA or not, the BJP is failing to see the bright side of the story. By protesting his move, the BJP is only providing the tools required to use the 'Corruption' weapon it is using against UPA to use against it. If Mr.Yeddurappa is confident then there is no need for any fuss, he can prove his innocence and the people will come to know of the UPA's attitude of intolerance to the rule of other parties. If he is corrupt, then BJP should not repeat the mistake of UPA and should take immediate steps to expose their black sheep and reestablish their integrity. Of course our judicial system moves at the pace of a snail and the UPA will do everything with no holds barred to prove Mr.Yeddurrappa guilty which will make the BJP to stay on its toes to defeat its machinations. Also, it is quixotic to expect the Governor to not work for the ruling party, the party which selected him to be the Governor in the first place.
If the action of Karnataka Governer is right then why President of India is not taking any action against the Central Government who is severly stuck in never-ever-heard scams like 2G, CWG, and ignoring the apex court hearings on Black Money matters.
Mr. chief minister, people of the state have not supported the bandh, we are least bothered with the political system in india. All the parties are dishonest and corrupt. People stayed indoors and business was shut down just because of the fear of the goondas. So dont think people approve watever misdeeds you people do on the common man. Instead of fighting like kids, do good for the people and show ur maturity
