The police busted a fake visa racket on Friday and arrested a resident of Hyderabad who allegedly collected Rs. 18 lakh from job aspirants.

Narendra alias Narendra Gundu from Hyderabad has been accused of operating from an office in the Telangana capital and promising to place unemployed youth in well-paying jobs in Dubai. He collected between Rs. 1lakh to Rs. 2 lakh from each candidate and issued them fake visas and fake air tickets.

A group of four boys from Bidar, who got their ‘visa documents’ from Gundu went to the Hyderabad Airport to board a flight to the land of dreams, and realised that they had been conned. They realised that some others had had the same experience earlier and they approached the police together. A team of officers led by circle inspector Ali Sab camped in Hyderabad, traced the movement of the kingpin and arrested him. He has been remanded in judicial custody.

“The Bidar police have registered 14 cases in this connection till now. More people are approaching us with similar complaints,” Superintendent of Police Prakash Nikam said.

He has appealed to the people not to approach agents or touts who claim to get them visas or other such documents by non-official channels. “If any one has been cheated, they should approach the nearest police station or the district police office,” the official said.
