Two killed while trying to cross road

Two were killed on the spot on NH-48 while they were crossing the road near Kamat Hotel in Sira taluk in the district on Saturday night.

The police have identified the deceased as Kumar (25) of Gollahalli and Manjunath (23) of Oduguntepalya, in Sira taluk.

The deceased Kumar along with his friend Manjunath, were returning from Kumar’s sister’s house at Yemmerahalli and had stopped on the way to visit Kumar’s relative’s shop. They were crossing the NH-48, when a Volvo bus belonging to VRL company hit them and sped away at around 10.30 p.m.

The Kallambella police traced the bus near Bankapur in Haveri district and arrested the driver.

A case has been registered in Kallambella police station.
