Their imagination turns into vibrant colours

A painting competition organised by The Hindu Young World at Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School here on Sunday turned out to be a platform for young students to bring out their imagination on varied topics into vibrant colours.

“I can only say this is amazing… the blend of colours and the imagination of the virgin minds is simply amazing….,” was the comment of the famous exponent of Surpur miniature paintings, Vijay HagargundagiI, who was the judge.

Nearly 500 students from 12 schools in Kalaburagi, Bidar and Yadgir districts participated in the event organised by The Hindu Young World in association with Thyrocare. Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School was the venue sponsors. All the participating students were given certificates and discount coupons for treatment at Thyrocare by the sponsors. While the topics for the junior category (students from classes 4 to 6) were ‘Fun in the sun; ‘Outside my window’; ‘Food fair’, the topics for senior students (classes 7 to 9) was ‘A scene in my kitchen’; ‘My home town railway station; and ‘Emotions’. The students were given the freedom to choose any one of the topics.

While 127 students participated in the junior category, 275 students participated in the senior category. A.P. Priya of Sharanabaveshwar Residential Public School bagged the first prize in the junior category, Sanket of the same school bagged the top prize in the senior category.

The other winners in the junior category included Anmole of Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School (II prize) and Manish Kulkarni of Karnataka Public School, Bidar, (III prize). Shankar Gouda of Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School and Rakshitha of Appa Public School bagged the second and third prize in the senior category, respectively. L.C. Sachin, Guru Kiran, Sai Samarth, Akshatha, B.K. Vyshnavi, Subash Chandra (all from Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School) and Krishna of the Karnataka Public School, Bidar, were given away consolation prizes in the junior category. S.S. Shreya of Appa Public School; S. Rachana, S.S. Shivani, A. Karthik, Navya Uday, P.H. Rahul (all Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School); and Suchitha of St. Joseph’s Convent School, Kalaburagi, were given away consolation prizes in the senior category.

Principal of Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School N.S. Devarkal and Mr. Hagargundagi gave away the prizes. Assistant Regional Managers of The Hindu, Vijayaramaraju and Shivashankar, were present.
