Chintamani police have registered a case against a Bengaluru-based software engineer on charges of cheating his wife and attempting to marry another woman recently. The incident happened in Chintamani town of Chickballapur district.

Police have identified the accused as K.V. Naresh Babu (27), a native of Venaktagiri locality in Chintamani and presently residing in Nandini Layout of Bengaluru.

The relatives of Naresh Babu’s wife foiled his attempt when he was distributing wedding invitations in Bengaluru a couple of days ago.

Naresh Babu, employed with a private company, was married to Shashikala for three years and she is pregnant now. However, he hid the fact of his first marriage and was engaged to a girl from Venakatagiri area.

Fortunately, Shashikala’s relatives got wind of this and alerted Narasimhappa, the father of the would-be-bride in Venakatagiri.

Mr. Narasimhappa lodged a complaint with the Chintamani town police on December 5. A case has been registered against the accused under CrPC sections 424, 406 and 420, the Circle Inspector of Police Nanjappa told The Hindu .

The police have arrested Munipoojamma, mother of Naresh Babu while he and his father, Venkatarayappa, are absconding.

Chintamani police are investigating the case.
