Soft skill training to be imparted to guides in Vijayapura: Randeep

With Chief Minister Siddaramaiah earmarking Rs. 10 crore to the district for the development of tourism, the district administration has already begun making some tentative projects for the optimum usage of the funds.

Speaking to The Hindu , D. Randeep, Deputy Commissioner, shared some of the plans for developing tourism sector.

Meeting

Informing that detailed reported would be prepared after the meeting of District Tourism Council (DTC) to be convened next month, he however said that some of the key elements would be to improve soft skills among guides, restoration of some ancient monuments and create a better information centre for tourists to get easy access to places here. “Since both; domestic and foreign visitors arrive here to see ancient monuments, the tourism department is facing acute shortage of skilled and well-learned guides who could interact effectively in many languages, mainly English.

In order to create a good team of guides, our focus would be to impart skill training some of them,” he said.

Many foreign tourists who land in Bengaluru and plan to visit the city, but often face difficulty in reaching here. We would like to contact tour operators with a package for the tourists.

“We will also grade the hotels here based on the facilities they are providing. This will help tourists to have easy access to the places and they can enjoy guided tours as well,” he said.

The official added that since the paid helicopter ride introduced during the Navaraspur Utsav witnessed a grand success, it would be proposed to be made a permanent feature for tourists here.
