A day after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah requested the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) leader and Melkote MLA K.S. Puttanaiah to support Congress candidate Ramya (Divya Spandana) in the bypolls in Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, Sarvodaya Karnataka Party candidate Nandini Jayaram withdrew her nomination papers on Wednesday, saying she will support Ms. Ramya in the August 21 byelections to the Mandya MP seat.
Unfit
Meanwhile, Mr. Puttanaiah said Janata Dal (Secular) candidate C.S. Puttaraju, is “unfit” to contest the byelections.
Coming down heavily on Mr. Puttaraju for indulging in “illegal stone quarrying and also assaulting KRRS leaders”, Mr. Puttanaiah said the KRRS and SKP would campaign against him across the constituency.
MUDA accused
The JD(S) candidate is one of the prime accused in Mandya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) illegal site allotment case. Mr. Puttanaiah hoped that the State government would take measures to revive Mysore Sugar Company Ltd. (Mysugar) and Pandavapura Sahakari Sakkare Karkhane (PSSK) in the district. He also urged for the modernisation works of all waterways in the State. KRRS vice-president V. Ashok, Shambhunahalli Suresh and Konasale Narasaraju were present.
