Relief paid to lightning victims’ kin

The State government on Sunday handed over cheques of Rs. 4 lakh each to the families of two girls who died due to lightning strike in Belur taluk on Thursday.

Y.N. Rudresh Gowda, Belur MLA, handed over the cheques. Sandhya (25), daughter of Paramesh and resident of D. Kodihalli, and Srushti (13), daughter of Halappa and resident of Byarambudhi village, were the victims. Belur tahsildar B.A. Jagadish was present at the time of handing over the cheques.

The compensation was paid to the victims’ families with the calamity relief fund.
