Rain wreaked havoc in the first half of October in Karnataka . The following tables capture the severity of the situation.

Table 1 shows districts of India sorted by the actual rainfall received in October till 16th. Five of the top 10 are from Karnataka.

Table 2 shows districts of Karnataka sorted by the % departure in rainfall (actual rainfall compared to expected rainfall) in October till 16th.

Of all thirty districts in Karnataka, 27 — except Shimoga, Kodagu, Dharwad — have exceeded the average rainfall expected till October 16th. In 19 of those 27, the departure from normal rainfall in October was by more than 100%.
