Taking serious objection to actor Rajinikanth’s tweet on the Cauvery verdict, Kannada activists staged protest demonstrations in Mandya and Ramanagaram district on Saturday.

Rajinikanth, who was born and brought up in Karnataka, had tweeted “The Cauvery verdict is disappointing and it would further affect the livelihood of Tamil Nadu farmers.” He also wanted the Tamil Nadu State government to file a review petition against the verdict.

Members of ‘Kasturi Karnataka Janapara Vedike’ staged a protest on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway in Channapatna, Ramanagaram district, and burnt his effigy. C.S. Puttaraju, MP, said: “The actor should not forget the contribution of Karnataka and Kannadigas to his success.”

Mandya district is considered as lucky for Rajinikanth, and the actor often wished to shoot popular scenes of his movies in and around Melkote and Srirangapatna. Padayappa and Linga were shot in Mandya.
