S.A. Ravindranath, MLA, Davangere South, has instructed officers of the Davangere Municipal Corporation to take immediate steps to solve the drinking water and waste disposal problems in his constituency as the residents are regularly complaining about these issues.

Speaking at a meeting of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Islauddin Gadyal and other officers at Corporation office here recently, he said that owing to the negligent and lethargic attitude of the officers, waste materials are thrown at open sites, roads and stormwater drains inconveniencing the people.

The streetlights in different localities are also not functioning properly making it difficult for people to move at night.

Though the officers concerned had promised to ensure proper supply of drinking water, the people in the city are not receiving the same. He demanded that immediate steps be taken to solve these problems on priority basis. Responding to the complaints of the MLA, Islauddin Gadyal, Municipal Corporation Commissioner, said the officers of the municipal corporation were busy for two months owing to election duty so there werr likely to be some problems in the city. But they would take immediate steps to solve these and make sure that people get good facilities.

BJP leaders Shamnur Lingraj, R. Rajshekhar, H.N. Gurunath and Dhananjay Kadlebalu were present.
