No desire to become KPCC chief, says M.B. Patil

Minister for Water Resources and district in-charge M.B. Patil has categorically stated that he has no desire to become Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president and wishes to continue as Minister. Speaking to presspersons after participating in the Rajyotsava programme here on Sunday, he said that he has already conveyed this message to the party high command.

“I am surely not escaping from the responsibility. However, I am more interested to serve as Water Resources Minister to get the pending irrigation projects completed in the State,” he said.

When asked who according to him is a more suitable candidate for the post between, IT/BT Minister S.R. Patil or Karnataka’s special representative to Delhi C.S. Nadagouda, he refused to reply stating that it was a decision left to the high command.

About the demand of the District Congress Committee (DCC) for reserving one post of MLC for local bodies constituency to Vijayapura district, Mr. Patil said that the decision would be taken only after studying the merits.

On coming Zilla Panchayat elections, the Minister said that efforts would be made to ensure the Congress gaining power of the ZP.

To a question on completing the Master Plan Project, which moving at a snail’s pace since over a year, the Minister assured get all majors roads competed on priority.

Earlier, delivering a speech after unfurling the flag, he said a two-day mega job fair would be held in Talikot town of the district on November 7 and 8.

District in-charge Minister M.B. Patil has made it clear that Navaraspur Utsav of the district would be a low-key affair considering the prevailing drought in the district.

Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said that the event would be held as per schedule. However it would not be on a grand scale, like happened last year.

“The district is facing severe drought, in such a situation, we will not hold the event in a grand scale,” he said. The event is scheduled to be held in February next year. Makbul Bagwan, MLA, Umesh Kolkur, ZP president, and others were present.
