About 25 heads of Veerashaiva maths on Thursday called on the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa at his residence here. According to sources, they expressed their desire to felicitate him at a function to be held in Lakshmeshwara of Gadag district on February 21 for his contribution to the development of Veerashaiva community. The pontiffs were led by Chandrashekhara Shivacharya Mahaswamiji.

This is being viewed in BJP circles as an attempt by the former Chief Minister, who has set his eyes on coming back as chief minister, to indirectly build pressure on the party leadership after the RSS leaders barred State BJP leaders and ministers from commenting on leadership issue.
