The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has announced a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the family of Velu, who had died of a cardiac arrest while participating in a dharna in front of the party office here on Friday.
KPCC president G. Parameshwara said that the family had taken the body to Tamil Nadu for cremation and the money would be sent to their residence in Mahadevapura later.
Dr. Parameshwara said that there was no basis for the protesters to stage a dharna or criticise anybody as the party was yet to announce the names of the candidates. He said that the leaders had done their exercise well for many days and arrived at the names after considering many parameters and no one should try to find mistakes in the procedure and integrity of the committee members.
