The Master of Business Administration Programme (MBA) of the Nitte-based Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management (JKSHIM), a constituent of the Nitte Education Trust, has got accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ASBSP).
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, K. Sankaran, director of JKSHIM, said that the accreditation was for a period of 10 years. The ACBSP, located in Kansas State of the U.S., is an international accreditation agency. The ACBSP is affiliated to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, an advocate for voluntary self regulation.
The ACBSP operated in several countries and had 10 regions across the world with a membership of over 1,260 programmes. B-schools from India came under Region 10 that comprised of South East Asia.This recognition would give an opportunity for students to participate in various ACBSP fora. It would facilitate admissions of students from all over the world. Students from JKSHIM could also transfer credits to other institutes under ACBSP.
This accreditation also gives the JKSHIM faculty members, an opportunity to participate in academic and research activities sponsored and supported by ACBSP.
The MBA programmes in Colorado State University, U.S., Alabama State University, U.S., European University, Switzerland, McMaster University, Canada and University of International Business and Economics at Beijing, China, are accredited by the ACBSP.
The JKSHIM has fulfilled the conditions of superior performance in six ACBSP standards. They are: leadership, strategic planning, student and stakeholder focus, measurement and analysis of students and performance, faulty and staff focus, and educational and business process management.
For JKSHIM, the entire process of accreditation took over two years involving important action programmes such as core courses and academic delivery systems, multiple workshops, assessment of faculty strength and meeting threshold standards.
The JKSHIM had also redefined its mission statement, which is “To prepare enterprising leaders who are analytical, communicative, ethical and alive to social responsibility, and who, by discovering their own inner voice, are able to celebrate diversity in a rapidly changing global environment”.
The JKSHIM will have to give a quality report every two years to the ACBSP, Prof. Sankaran said. N.K Thingalaya, N.S.Shetty, G.V.Joshi, Sudhir Raj K., Ravilochan Rao, Krishna Prasad and Shilpa Praveen,were present.
