With only two days left for candidates to file their nomination for the May 5 Assembly elections, it is unlikely for the Janata Dal (Secular) to announce its final list 102 candidates.
According to party sources, B form had been issued to over 195 candidates till Monday night and those got the green signal would file their nomination on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Janata Dal (Secular) which announced its first list of 122 candidates for the Assembly election on April 5, had hinted at releasing the second list by April 10. The party had plans to organise a massive convention to administer “loyalty oath”, in front of electorates of the constituency.
Speaking to The Hindu , a senior JD(S) leader, on condition of anonymity, said party leaders were busy in admitting those, who were quitting other political parties and paving way for their contest. “The party has to clear candidates for only 20 constituencies, as rest of 202 had been finalised. Time is not permitting to hold the convention as promised”, he asserted.
