Vice President of the Hyderabad-based Icon HRD G.V.N. Raju stressed on the importance unleashing the hidden potential of the human resources coming out ofuniversities.

Delivering a lecture on ‘How to Become an Entrepreneur’ organised jointly by The Hindu and Appa Institute of Engineering Technology in Kalaburagi on Sunday, Dr. Raju said that the infatuation with government jobs or a safe job among the Indian population was the main reason the country didn’t have many entrepreneurs.

“A world of opportunities is waiting for you and by becoming an entrepreneur not only you would get a secure life but also you would also get the satisfaction of providing employment to many,” he said.

Dr. Raju kept the students of the Appa Institute of Engineering Technology and Godutai Engineering College glued to their seats during his 120-minute long address interspersed with mimicry, jokes and personal experiences. Dr. Raju said that to become an entrepreneur one need not have big money. What was required is self confidence, motivation to achieve big things and the ability to sell ideas.

He said that beginners should first test the waters by working in an organisation to get a feel of running an organisation and how the risk involved can be tackled effectively. Dean of the Appa Institute of Engineering Technology Anilkumar Bidwe spoke on the occasion. Principal of the Godutai Engineering College Shashikala, Lakshmi Maka and Assistant Regional General Manager of The Hindu S.D.T. Rao, Area Sales Manager Vijaya Rama Raju were present.
