Hearings on electricity rate revision from Friday

Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has notified the schedule of its public hearings on the applications seeking revision of electricity rates by various electricity supply companies.

According to the schedule, hearings across the State will commence on Friday.

The first will be held in Bangalore followed by Mysore on February 26, Mangalore on February 28, Gulbarga on March 12 and Dharwad on March 14.

Applications

Public hearings are being held after the five electricity supply companies and KPTCL filed applications seeking upward revision of tariff by approximately 70 paise per kWh for various categories of consumers to bridge the estimated revenue gap.

Objections

In response to the publication on tariff revision proposals submitted by electricity supply companies/ KPTCL, 2,189 objections/ suggestions have been received from the individual consumers/ institutions, chambers of commerce, associations and others, a release said.
