B. Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forest, has said that the government is committed to taking action in accordance with law for the protection of forests in the State.
Speaking at a function to dedicate Sri Karivaradarajaswamy Hills for public after developing it into a tourist destination by improving the infrastructure, on the outskirts of Chamarajanagar on Monday, he said Karnataka was the front runner in maintaining the national park in the country. There was a considerable increase in the number of elephants and tigers in the forests of the State.
Stating that there was no question of bowing to mining lobbies, he said illegal mining in forest limits would not allowed.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Vinay Luthra and Regional Chief Conservator of Forest Dilipkumar were present.
