Four killed in car-oil tanker collision

Four persons, three belonging to a same family and the driver, died on the spot, in a head-on collision involving a Bolero and Oil tanker that occurred on NH-63 near Dadegalin the outskirts of Koppal town around midnight of Sunday.

Another person has sustained grievous injuries in the incident. The deceased were identified as D. Ganesh (47), Head constable in Hosapete Town Police station, his wife Amuda (45), his mother-in-law Govindamma (68) and Mohammed (driver), D. Shekar, brother of Ganesh, who was severely injured has been rushed to VIMS hospital in Ballari.

According to the police, Ganesh and his family members were returning after attending the engagement of his relative’s son at Hubballi.

Chandraiah, driver of the tanker, resident of Adoni in Andhra Pradesh, has been arrested.

It is said that Chandraiah was in an inebriated state and was unable to stand properly after being taken out from the tanker.

Koppal (rural) police have registered a case.
