Four girls drown in Chickballapur dist.

Close on the heels of four boys of an orphanage at Chickballapur taluk drowing on Monday, as many girls lost their lives when they went to the Dadamghatta tank under Dibburhalli police limits in Sidlaghat taluk of Chickballapur district on Tuesday.

They had gone there to wash clothes. It’s said that one of the girls fell into the water, and the other three tried to rescue her. But all four drowned. The police gave the names of the victims as Mallika (15), Munirathna (15), Nandini (14) and Nalina (11) – all from Dadamghatta village under Palicherlu grama panchayat limits in Sidlaghat taluk.

While Mallika and Munirathna were students of Government High School at Dibburhalli, Nandini and Nalina were studying at Government School in Dadamghatta. The parents of the victims are labourers, it is learnt.
