The Karnataka government on Monday appointed a commission of inquiry, headed by the former Karnataka High Court judge, B. Padmaraj, to look into allegations of illegal allotment of housing sites and denotification of land in the State from January 1, 1995 to November 22, 2010.

The commission will complete the inquiry and submit a report within one year, said a notification.

The Opposition parties had alleged that the Chief Minister had allotted housing sites and denotified land in favour of his children and relatives.

However, Mr. Yeddyurappa defended the allotments, stating that he followed the practices adopted by the previous governments in the allotment of ‘G' category sites and lands for industrial projects.
