A farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at his residence in Kondakarihalli in Gudibande taluk of Chickballapur district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Adinarayanappa (50). Adinarayanappa reportedly took the step as he suffered huge loss due to damage to his potato crop. The farmer took ₹ 1 lakh loan from a nationalised bank and ₹ 8 lakh from money lenders, said the police.
As the tube well has dried up, the crop which he cultivated on one acre land was damaged.
