The mother of the boy who is feared drowned in Kalaburagi made a tearful appeal to the district authorities here on Friday seeking sustained efforts to help trace her son, Krishna. He went missing in a drain following heavy rain on Monday.

Krishna, a resident of Gazipura area, was a student of Class 2. His inconsolable mother, Sangeeta, and his father, Rakesh Hatwala, are still hoping that their son will return. The couple have four children, including a girl, and Krishna was the second child.

Search operation

A 10-member team of pourakarmikas led by Health Inspector attached to the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike conducted the search operations in the first two days. Then, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team joined the operations and continued the search for three days. However, the team wrapped up its operations on Friday evening and returned to Hyderabad.

Though the NDRF team cleared all the wild bushes from the drainages and conducted a thorough search for the boy, the efforts proved futile. The district authorities have now directed the pourakarmikas to resume the search operation on Saturday morning, officials said.

Minister visits family

Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil on Friday visited the victim’s residence to console the family members. Deputy Commissioner Ujjwalkumar Ghosh, ZP CEO Hephsiba Rani Korlapati and Mahanagara Palike Commissioner P. Sunilkumar were present.
