Rain in parts of Kalaburagi city and district brought some fleeting, but much-needed, relief from the sweltering conditions on Tuesday. However, there was little difference in temperature, with mercury hitting new highs in both Hyderabad-Karnataka and Bombay-Karnataka regions.
According to the readings recorded by the Met Department at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, temperature peaked in Ballari which saw a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius in the previous 24 hours — the highest in the State. This is 3 degrees more than the temperature recorded on the corresponding day last year.
In Kalaburagi, the maximum temperature was 42 degrees Celsius, while in Bidar it was 41 degrees Celsius. Raichur and Koppal also recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius each.
There was no respite at night either, with Kalaburagi recording the State’s highest minimum temperature of 29 degree Celsius, 4 degrees more than on the corresponding day last year.
Raichur recorded a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, another 4-degree jump. It was 37 degrees Celsius in Bidar, 25 degrees Celsius in Koppal and Vijayapura, and 24 degrees Celsius in Gadag.
IMD has predicted rain or thundershowers in isolated pockets all over the State in the next 48 hours.
