The Akhila Karnataka Stone Crusher and Stone Quarry Associations Confederation on Friday said the government had promised to solve the problems being faced by quarry owners, crushers and thousands of workers.

Confederation president Raghu Lakkannavar told presspersons in Bangalore recently that a delegation of quarry owners and crushers had recently met Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter and appraised him the problems being faced by them on account of restrictions placed by the Supreme Court.

The government, Mr. Lakkannavar said, has set up a committee under Environment Minister Sogadu Shivanna. The committee, comprising government officials, representatives of crushers and quarry owners and environment scientists, would soon submit a report to the court about safe quarrying and crushing.

A majority of crushers have stopped work following the court order. Thousands of workers and lorry owners too are affected by this, Mr. Lakkannavar added.
