The Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) has directed building owners in Shiribeedu to connect their drainage systems to the underground drainage system of the municipality.

A press release issued here on Friday said that CMC president Meenakshi Bannanje had received complaints from residents of Shiribeedu area that sewage from nearby buildings was overflowing and was stagnating in a nearby open area. The stagnant sewage was also giving out a foul smell.

Ms. Bannanje visited the area along with officials. The CMC had issued notices to the building owners from where the sewage was overflowing and given them directions to stop the sewage flow.
