Students of various schools got to watch children’s films from the world’s best directors in the week long children’s film festival that ended in Firoze cinema hall in Bidar on Friday.
The students, who came in large numbers to watch the films, clapped, cheered and whistled all through the films. The festival started with Richard Bowen’s film Cinderella Moon from China, which narrated fairy tales with a modern message.
Bacheha-E-Aseman (Children of Heaven) - Majid Majidi’s movie that made the world sit-up and take notice of Iranian cinema, brought tears to the eyes of many among the audience. Alegalu , the award-winning Kannada movie about two young friends, who begin sailing in a small boat in search of a friendly God, was well accepted.
Inuk , a film from Greenland that sends out the grave message of global warming through the story of a young man in search of his destiny, was a visual marvel. The film shot in snow-covered surroundings was a completely different experience for the children of this arid district. Other films like Pani Kluci (French), Journey to the beginning of time (Czech, Yellow Colt (Mangolia) were also screened.
The seven day children’s film festival was organised by the Karnataka Chalana Chitra Academy, information department and district administration.
MP Bhagwant Khuba, who was present during the valedictory, watched Cinderella Moon along with the children. Mallikarjun Biradar, member, board of management, Karnataka veterinary, animal and fisheries sciences university, Zaheer Anwar, film exhibitor, and others were present.
