The Samaj Parivarthan Samudaya (SPS) has approached the Supreme Court and sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged involvement of Senior Congress leader and Kanakapura MLA D.K. Shivakumar in the illegal mining case.

The 164-page Interlocutory Application (IA) filed by SPS on July 2 has sought direction for a probe into alleged irregularities committed by “some of the powerful politicians” including Mr. Shivakumar.

Besides Mr. Shivakumar, the IA focussed on serious alleged illegalities by former Minister V. Somanna (Matha Minerals), Ramesh (son of the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda), the Baldota Group and others.

The courts had given Mr. Shivakumkar a clean chit in all the cases.
