Build Tech-2015 set to discuss development of smart cities

The two-day Build Tech-2015, a ‘Seminar on Smart Cities: Builder’s Perspective’, which began here on Wednesday, will have presentations from professionals who had been closely associated with the making of smart cities.

The people behind Tianjin Eco Smart City in China – Dr. Liming Yu and Jaya Paul – are attending the seminar to share their experiences with the delegates.

Case studies

Similarly, successful ‘Smart City’ case studies – Masdar City in Abu Dhabi; GIFT City in Ahmedabad; Dholera City in Gujarat and Naya Raipur – have been listed for discussion, with people associated with them participating in the event.

Swapnil Patil, who is trained from the University of Berkeley on smart cities; Dr.Chandrashekar Hariharan, chairman, Bio Diversity Conservation India Limited; water conservation expert S. Vishwanath and several other professionals engaged in developing cities on several fronts are in the list of speakers.

The seminar has been organised to explore the technology available and ways and means to achieve the requirements for developing smart cities. Over 400 delegates from various parts of the city are attending.

Smart transportation, smart materials, smart grids, smart water management, smart construction and smart homes are the topics scheduled for discussion.

Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the seminar in the presence of MLA Tanveer Sait, MUDA Chairman K.R. Mohan Kumar, MCC Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath, MUDA Commissioner M. Mahesh, BAI State Chairman A.R. Ravindra Bhat, BAI Mysuru Chairman M.S. Ramprasad, CREDAI State president V.K. Jagadish Babu, CREDAI Mysuru president S. Prakash and Build Tech-2015 Organising Committee chairman N.S. Anand.
