District in-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni has instructed the authorities of the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) to focus on making it the premier public sector hospital that doesn’t see cases of maternal mortality.

At a review meeting here earlier this week, Mr. Kulkarni was told that cases of maternal mortality were pretty high at KIMS. He said the aim should be to bring the number down to zero.

The government will provide all assistance to make this a reality, the Minister added.
