A.T. Ramaswamy, former MLA and former chairman of the Joint Legislature Committee on government land encroachments in Bengaluru, has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident where Karnataka High Court Chief Justice S.K. Mukherjee was offered a bribe. He has written to the Chief Justice of India in this regard.
At a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Ramaswamy said Mr. Mukherjee's silence on the issue had raised doubts. “The Chief Justice should have taken action against the person who offered him bribe at his official residence. When he gave this information in an open court, why did he remain silent later?" Mr. Ramaswamy asked.
