BJP seeks Baburao Chinchansur’s resignation

A woman alleged in a letter to the Speaker that the Minister borrowed Rs. 11.88 cr from her and the cheque he issued in return bounced.

The principal Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday demanded resignation of Minister for Textiles Baburao Chinchansur, who > allegedly cheated a woman by issuing a cheque that bounced .

Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar, who wanted a debate on the issue under an adjournment motion, alleged that a case has been filed against the Minister. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should sack Mr. Chinchansur from the Cabinet.

Mr. Shettar said that the woman has alleged in the letter to the Speaker claiming that the Minister borrowed Rs. 11.88 crore from her and the cheque he had issued in return bounced.

Mr. Chinchansur who is in public life, has given the cheque which has bounced. A complaint on this has been filed at the Magistrate Court which has taken cognisance of the case, Mr. Shettar said.

Objecting to this, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra questioned how this issue can be discussed under adjournment motion. “I request the chair not to allow this adjournment motion,” he said.

A couple of members (Congress) questioned Mr. Shettar’s intention behind bringing private matter to the House. Mr. Shettar said Mr. Chinchansur is “not fit” to be Minister, he requested the Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa to allow issue to be discussed.

The Speaker said that he would look into the issue later in the day.
