Ban on protests near Kolar SP office draws flak

The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has criticised the ban imposed on protests such as dharna in front of the office of Kolar Superintendent of Police.

The outfit demanded that the banner instructing ban on protests put up at the office at Tamaka on the outskirts of the town be removed.

“People stage protests near the office seeking justice in several cases when the lower level police fail to deliver justice”, KRRS State vice-president K. Narayana Gowda said. “Police have sold the justice to politicians and rich people. If the poor approach the police seeking justice they will be denied it”, he said.

The organisation submitted a memorandum on Friday to Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari seeking removal of the banner which warned the agitators of stringent legal action. “The order of the SP is undemocratic and unjust”, Mr. Gowda said.

A. Nalini, Maragal Srinivas and other leaders were present while submitting the memorandum.
