In view of the withdrawal of the indefinite strike by employees of State-owned road transport corporations, officials of the North-Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) started bus services here and in rural areas at 5.45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Santosh Gogeri, divisional controller, told The Hindu, “We have instructed the officials to start bus services to rural areas first and then to other cities and towns.”
He said that the services to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune would be resumed as per schedule.
Officials served notices on 320 trainees for not attending duty, Mr. Gogeri said.
Though police protection was provided to buses belonging to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), a bus belonging to the TSRTC was damaged in stone-pelting near Gurmitkal.
The bus was attacked by miscreants when it was coming from Hyderabad to Yadgir, Mr. Gogeri said.
