In their investigating into the murder of scholar M.M. Kalburgi, the Criminal Investigation Department on Saturday had an hour-long discussion with the forensic team of the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and Hospital, which had conducted the autopsy.

The CID team, led by D.C. Rajappa, SP, held a discussion with the professor and head of KIMS’ Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Gajanan Nayak.

However, Dr. Nayak declined to divulge any information about the meeting, but confirmed that the team had visited him. He said it was a legal issue and he was not authorised to give any information on the autopsy report, except to authorities concerned.

A police source revealed that the CID wanted clarifications with regard to the preliminary autopsy report given to them and the meeting was to clarify certain technical issues.

In Dharwad, the CID questioned family members and relatives of Prof. Kalburgi. They are focussing on the family and other angles, apart from the role of right-wing fundamentalists.
