Expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh called on L.K Advani at his residence in New Delhi on Friday, fuelling speculation that he could be seeking a re-entry into the party.
BJP officials dismissed the engagement as a meeting between old colleagues, but sources said a discussion on the political future of Mr. Singh’s son Manvendra would have also come up during the half-hour meeting.
After Mr. Singh was expelled for contesting the Lok Sabha election from Barmer in Rajasthan, Manvendra, an MLA in Rajasthan, was accused of campaigning for his father and suspended. Manvendra has also been removed from the membership of the BJP National Executive.
Mr. Singh, addressing the media after the polls, had described the action against his son as condemnable and said injustice has been done to him.
He had ruled out his own return to the party and had taken a pot shot at Narendra Modi by asserting that there was no “Modi wave in Barmer, just a heat wave.”
Mr. Singh had asked the party for ticket to contest from Barmer, but it was given to former Congress leader Col. Sonaram Chowdhury.
