IRCTC claims it is a major air ticket vendor

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) on Friday claimed that it has emerged as one of the major air ticket vendors in less than a month into the new venture.

Being the largest e-commerce site in Asia-Pacific, the IRCTC said, it sold through online over 1500 tickets to the tune of Rs. 50 lakh a day.

On May 5, 2010, the IRCTC started an air ticketing agency, offering a 10 per cent cash-back package.

The IRCTC said it has also excelled as a service provider in tourism, rail ticketing and hospitality sector across the country.
