India has sought a detailed investigation report from the French authorities on terror accused Mohammad Niaz Abdul Rashid, a native of Tamil Nadu and allegedly an active member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India.

Officials privy to the development said the government was also planning to seek consular access to Rashid, based on the probe details.

They said the Central security agencies were in touch with their French counterparts over his interrogation and extending all possible cooperation.

The French police arrested Rashid, along with six other suspected Islamic militants, on May 10. The French authorities suspect that he was recruiting volunteers for a Pakistan-based terror outfit. He holds an Indian passport and visited India some time ago.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu police are trying to find out Rashid's address in India as mentioned in its passport. He obtained two passports in the State. One was from the Tiruchi region. The police were not sure from where he got the other, which was fake.
