Government on Monday said it has asked states to implement the rural job guarantee scheme in a “more meaningful” way in Naxalite affected areas.
“Instructions have been issued to states for implementation of NREGA in a more meaningful way in Naxalite affected areas,” Rural Development Minister C P Joshi told the Lok Sabha during Question Hour.
He said the states have been instructed to intensify awareness generation campaign among rural households, issuance of job cards, implementing sufficient number of works and timely payment of wages.
