Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar wrapped up her three-day visit to India by paying obeisance at the historic Dargah of Sufi mystic Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer on Thursday. She offered a ‘chadar' at the shrine and prayed for friendly relations between the two countries and peace in the sub-continent.
Ms. Khar, accompanied by Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, High Commission officials and several others, stayed on the Dargah premises for over half-an-hour and performed the ‘Ziarat' (pilgrimage) rituals with the help of a Khadim, Natiq Chishti. Dressed in a purple salwar kameez, she offered a velvet ‘chadar' and flowers at the Sufi saint's mausoleum.
Thirty-four-year-old Ms. Khar wrote in Khadims' representative body Anjuman Khuddam Syedzadgan's visiting register: “I feel extremely happy after coming to Khwaja Saheb's Dargah. I will try to visit this place again as soon as possible.”
Ms. Khar, accompanied by an eight-member delegation, landed at the Ghughra helipad near Ajmer two hours behind schedule, as she had to make a halt at the Sanganer airport here owing to bad weather. The air traffic control did not give immediate clearance for chopper flight to Ajmer because of heavy rain in Jaipur.
Strict security arrangements were made for Ms. Khar's visit to the Dargah, even as a huge crowd gathered around the shrine to catch a glimpse of her.
