Go back to talks, Centre tells bank staff

December 03, 2014 01:35 am | Updated May 23, 2016 04:55 pm IST - New Delhi:

The Union government appealed to bank employees’ unions and associations on Tuesday not to go on strike and return to negotiations with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) on wage revision.

The government is monitoring the situation arising out of the notice given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) for zone-wise relay strikes from Tuesday to Friday, the Finance Ministry said in a statement. The public sector banks have been advised to take steps to ensure that the strike does not put customers into inconvenience and keep ATMs and clearing houses working.
