Mahanta, son injured in accident

Former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, his son and two others were injured when their car travelling in a convoy hit a stationary truck in this district on Tuesday night, police said.

The bulletproof car in which Mr. Mahanta, who has Z plus security cover, along with his son Subham, was travelling from Guwahati to Nagaon town, hit the truck near Bebejia.

All the four occupants of the car — Mr. Mahanta, his son, NSG commando Dinesh Singh and driver Birendra Singh — were injured and were admitted to a private hospital here.

Police said the AGP leader and his son were out of danger.
