The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has deployed a boom around cruise liner MV Qing which sank at Western India Shipyard Ltd. (WISL) jetty inside Mormugao port in Goa on June 29 last to prevent any marine environmental disaster.
According to Coast Guard Regional HQ (West) PRO, Indian Coast Guard is providing assistance to Marmugoa Port Trust (MPT), Goa-based major port which is coordinating agency, to prevent possibility of oil spill from MV Qing.
The vessel contains 350 MT of Fixed and Floating Objects.
On request from the MPT, Coast Guard District HQ-11 Goa with the assistance of Coast Guard Ship Samudra Prahari, a dedicated pollution response vessel, has deployed a boom around MV Qing to prevent marine environmental disaster, said an ICG press release in Panaji on Monday.
