A BSF constable on duty in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district was placed under suspension on Wednesday following allegations that he molested a Bangladeshi woman who was apprehended for illegally crossing the border.
A high level inquiry has been ordered into the incident reported from an outpost in the Angrail sector, the South Bengal Frontier of the BSF said in a statement.
The allegations might also be an attempt to cover up her act of illegal crossing, the statement said.
The woman along with seven-year-old son was handed over to the local police, a senior BSF officer said.
