BJP president Nitin Gadkari has served a legal notice on RTI activist Anjali Damania for alleging that he told her at a meeting in Mumbai that he would not take a stand on the irrigation scam in Maharashtra since he had business ties with NCP leaders.

The notice asked Ms. Damania to either retract her statement and tender a public apology or be prepared to face legal consequences. The BJP unit of Maharashtra was the first to unearth the scam and undertook agitations, besides appropriate legal remedy, the notice said.
